Empowerment:

We:

Are child centred,

Develop strategies to meet/extend the child’s    strengths/interests/needs.

Provide a happy positive environment.

Listen to the child’s verbal and non verbal communication.

Encourage child independence, we affirm ngā tamariki as individuals.

Provide a self choice environment with programme planning developing

from the decisions and choices that the children make.

Holistic Development:

We:

Value building links between home, centre and community.

Encourage ngā tamariki to develop their own qualities.

Believe in involving ngā tamariki in caring for the centre both indoors and

outdoors, and caring for themselves and their peers (Tuakana-teina)

Relationships:

We:

Support the relationship between parents, children, and staff;

using peaceful resolutions and reciprocal relationships.

Encourage positive interactions.

Work together as a team, helping each other, valuing each other,

respecting each other’s opinions.

Believe in effective communication, two-way sharing, listening, discussing.

Family and Community:

We:

Know parents are first educators of their children.

Plan and consult with parents/whanau and the wider community.

Teach our children to respect people, places and things.
